Wyndham Vacation Ownership (WVO) (Wyndham Worldwide is No. 27 on the 2016 DiversityInc Top 50 Companies for Diversity list) recently presented a $25,000 donation on behalf of the Wyndham Worldwide Charitable Foundation to The Center an LGBT+ support organization in Orlando responsible for spearheading remarkable resources and local recovery efforts in wake of the June 12 tragedy. The Center offers various support channels and social programs while increasing understanding and acceptance in the Central Florida area. Wyndham associates additionally contributed personal donations of more than $6,500 to The Center.

The Wyndham Worldwide Charitable Foundation also donated $10,000 to Zebra Coalition, an Orlando-based organization which provides services to lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and all youth (LGBT+) ages 13 24. Zebra Coalition offers support and individualized programs to guide young people to recovery and stability in the wake of homelessness; bullying; physical, sexual and drug abuse; and isolation from their families. For many years, Wyndham has partnered with Zebra Coalition in educating associates on the unique needs of LBGT+ youth. Outreach efforts include clothing donation drives, fundraising events, and providing professional services to support the development of resources to offer community education.

“We are humbled and inspired by the efforts made by The Center and Zebra Coalition to support Pulse survivors, LGBT+ and youth in our local community. It is our sincere pleasure to contribute support on behalf of Wyndham Worldwide and our associates, and it’s heartwarming to realize the impact our contribution will have on their efforts,” said Sarah King, executive vice president, human resources at Wyndham Vacation Ownership.

“Through the incredible support of Wyndham Vacation Ownership, we are not only able to supply basic needs for our youth but we are also able to continue providing a safe space for anyone that walks through our door,” said Earl Johnson, development manager at Zebra Coalition. “Their time, love and dedication directly supports our mission of fostering hope, dignity and self-respect in LGBT+ youth and to provide them an opportunity to grow up in a safe, healthy and supportive environment.”
