Woke, Legendary Sportscaster Warner Wolf Arrested For Vandalism

Longtime sportscaster Warner Wolf was arrested in Naples, Fla., on Thursday for defacing a portion of a sign in the residential community where he lives.

The incident happened at the Classics Plantation Estates in November 2018. In an incredibly woke moment, he allegedly removed the letters that made up the word “plantation.” Wolf claimed that word was offensive and wanted it gone. The homes in the subdivision sell from anywhere from $749,000 to $1.4 million, according to the website.

There had been an ongoing complaint by Wolf to the homeowners’ association regarding the use of “plantation” in the name. The association never addressed his concern. HOA president Kevin McDonald told investigators that Wolf had been a “vocal critic” of the wording for a while and had brought it up at various meetings.

Although “plantation” is just a large farm, it is almost always associated with slavery in the United States. Many places in Florida and in the South, proactively, use it to name properties, cities, streets, etc.

Wolf was actually caught on by surveillance cameras after neighbors and witnesses had been interviewed by police. A warrant was then issued for his arrest. He turned himself in on Thursday and was later charged with criminal mischief, which resulted in damages of more than $1,000.

He was later released after he paid a $5,000 bond.

History can’t be erased, and it is never okay to break the law, but it is imperative to mention that Wolf’s actions were the acts of a true ally. He is expected in court next month.
