With 794 people from 302 different companies in attendance, Novartis Pharmaceuticals Corporation was unveiled as the No. 1 company on the 2014 Fair360, formerly DiversityInc Top 50 list at a special announcement dinner on April 22, 2014, at Cipriani Wall Street in New York City.
After ranking in the middle of the pack for a number of years starting in 2006, Novartis began a steep ascent in 2011 that has led them to the top of the 2014 list. In 2010, Novartis lost a class action discrimination lawsuit brought by women in the company’s sales department. Today, women make up more than half of of Wyss’ direct reports, including scientific positions.
Fair360, formerly DiversityInc CEO Luke Visconti shared Novartis’ ranking with Wyss before the official announcement, and though he could not attend the dinner, Wyss did share this video message on his company’s journey to the top.
