Brian Kolfage, an Air Force veteran who lost his legs and right arm during his second deployment in Iraq in 2004, started a GoFundMe campaign to fund a border wall between the United States and Mexico.
Kolfage, 37, whose mother’s side of the family immigrated from Mexico, according to the New York Daily News, set the goal for his “We the People Will Fund the Wall” campaign at $1 billion and he’s already reached over $8 million.
“I was just kind of fed up with the way things were going politically, the games people are playing,” Kolfage said.
The GoFundMe page’s description says Kolfage feels “deeply invested” in securing the United States’ borders to ensure safety for future generations.
“Too many Americans have been murdered by illegal aliens and too many illegals are taking advantage of the United States taxpayers with no means of ever contributing to our society,” Kolfage wrote.
This contradicts what research has proven about undocumented immigrants. The New York Times reported that multiple studies and census bureau data confirm that undocumented immigrants are less likely to commit crimes than natural, U.S.-born citizens.
Kolfage also said, “I have grandparents who immigrated to America legally, they did it the correct way and it’s time we uphold our laws, and get this wall BUILT!”
The veteran claims to be working with a law firm to craft a binding document to ensure all money goes to the wall, and if the goal isn’t reached, all donations will be refunded, he said.
A response to Kolfage’s campaign was another GoFundMe campaign for ladders over the wall. Any money raised for that campaign will go to provide free and low-cost legal support for immigrants and their families through the Refugee and Immigrant Center for Education and Legal Services (RAICES).
GoFundMe, in their terms and conditions, says that campaigns can’t be bigoted or intolerant: “Without limiting the foregoing, you agree not to use the Services to: raise funds or establish or contribute to any Campaign with the implicit or explicit purpose of or involving:
Campaigns we deem, in our sole discretion, to be in support of, or for the legal defense of alleged crimes associated with hate, violence, harassment, bullying, discrimination, terrorism, or intolerance of any kind relating to race, ethnicity, national origin, religious affiliation, sexual orientation, sex, gender or gender identity, or serious disabilities or diseases…”
Meanwhile, Trump continues to insist that Mexico is paying for his desired border wall:

The Senate late Wednesday approved a stopgap spending measure that will keep the government open until February without Trump’s requested $5 billion for the wall.
