Both academic excellence and athletic skill run in the Wilson family. Twin brothers Brin and Nial Wilson, graduating seniors at Captain Shreve High School in Shreveport, La., have earned more than $2.7 million in scholarships combined. Brin has accumulated $1,393,012, and Nial, $1,335,788.
Both applied to and were recruited by numerous colleges throughout the country. According to The Shreveport Times, the Wilsons have been accepted into schools including Morehouse College, Atlanta; Loyola University, New Orleans; St. John University, New York City; Louisiana Tech, and Barry University, Miami; and Lasalle University, Philadelphia.
The brothers have also received athletic scholarship offers to play football in the fall. Knox College in Illinois made Brin an offer and Nial has offers from Culver-Stockton in Missouri, Judson University in Illinois, Sterling College and McPherson, both in Kansas.
An article published in October in Lousiana Football Magazine & TV said the majority of the brothers’ accomplishments are similar:
“Both have received the Captain Shreve Distinguished Scholar Award, have been recognized by the Caddo Parish School Board for work with Teen Court, and have been invited to the Offense-Defense All-American Bowl as well as the Blue-Grey All-American Bowl.”
However, they hold different positions — Nial Wilson plays tight end while Brin Wilson plays wide receiver.
“I have played with him since we could hold a ball,” Brin told Louisiana Football Magazine & TV. “It’s like second nature. The only thing that separates us is our position. We are very much alike in that aspect, but if I had to say a difference, he runs with more power while I run with more agility.”
Nial said, “We are each other’s biggest supporters, but we are also very competitive. We push each other to be better. We critique and support each other. It’s a positive having him there. I am more of a hard-nosed, in-your-face player where Brin is more finesse.”
The twins’ honors also include being recognized by LHSAA 2019 Bowling All-District 2nd Team and receiving the Captain Shreve Distinguished Scholar Award.
