Former Trump campaign manager Corey Lewandowski is taking a page from his old boss’ book and has no apologies for mocking an immigrant child with Down syndrome who was separated from her family at the border.
“Womp, womp,” Lewandowski said on Fox News in response to hearing the story.
“Did you just say Womp, womp’ to a 10-year-old with Down syndrome being taken from her mother” Zac Petkanas, a Democratic strategist, asked. Enraged, he added, “How dare you. We have infants who are being taken from their mothers. We have infants that are being stolen from they mothers and put into cages.”
On Wednesday, Lewandowski doubled down. Again appearing on Fox, he expressed no remorse.
“An apology I owe an apology to the children whose parents are putting them in a position that is forcing them to be separated. We owe an apology to Jamiel Shaw and Brian Terry and Kate Steinle’s family who have allowed those individuals to be killed by illegal aliens,” he said. “The American people owe an apology to those people. When you cross the border illegally, you have committed a crime and there is accountability for committing crimes and there should be.”
On Wednesday, U.S. Customs and Border Patrol issued a statement regarding the little girl, saying that her mother had not committed a crime but was “being held as a witness in the smuggling incident.”
Later, Lewandowski took to Twitter to — also like Trump — blame the media for his own hatred.
Lots of Fake News today. I mocked a liberal who attempted to politicize children as opposed to discussing the real issue which is fixing a broken immigration system. It’s offenseive that the MSM doesn’t want to talk about the fact these policies were started under Obama.

Lewandowski was fired from Trump’s campaign in June 2016.
Also Wednesday Trump said he plans to sign an executive order that would not separate families at the border. It is not clear if such an order would have been relevant in the case of the girl with Down syndrome.
