At TIAA, we embrace diversity as a way of doing business. It’s the right thing to do, but more than that, it’s who we are – and we firmly believe it’s key to our success.

Just as TIAA is committed to having an inclusive and diverse workforce, we also make it a priority to have a diverse supply chain. Our commitment to supplier diversity is both substantial and longstanding. TIAA’s Supplier Diversity program was established in 1992 to forge business relationships with diverse and diversity-conscious suppliers that provide the highest quality and service levels. Our program is extremely competitive when compared with those of other industry leaders. It endeavors to develop strong working relationships with business enterprises owned by minorities; women; veterans; disabled people; and lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) individuals.

TIAA is committed to promoting a diverse and unique supplier base. We engage firms with competitive qualifications, experience, capabilities, and pricing – and we aim to foster economic and social opportunities for our diverse suppliers. As a global company, we also endeavor to integrate these principles in our international operations. We recently implemented a supplier diversity program in our TIAA India location for women-owned businesses based in India.

TIAA’s commitment to supplier diversity is brought to life by the dedicated employees who serve on our Supplier Diversity Advisory Council and Supplier Diversity Steering Committee. These TIAA leaders – including our CFO, CHRO, and CPO – advocate for inclusive supplier strategies and work to integrate supplier diversity into our business processes and operations at all levels of the organization. We are grateful for their efforts.

The TIAA Supplier Diversity Program is a direct reflection of our company’s deepest values – as well as the values of the people and institutions we have served for more than a century. As such, it is fully endorsed and supported by the TIAA executive management team. We are so proud of the impact our program has had over nearly three decades, and we’re grateful for the ways our diverse suppliers and diversity-conscious suppliers have helped to enable our success. We’re committed to continuing to grow and strengthen this vitally important program in the years to come.
