TIAA recently launched its 10th Business Resource Group (BRG): SoPro, for Seasoned Professionals of TIAA.
The SoPro BRG’s mission is to maximize the impact of TIAA’s network of seasoned professionals by bridging generational differences and promoting cross-cultural collaboration by sharing knowledge and experiences.
This includes future collaboration and partnership with TIAA’s Young Professionals (YoPro) BRG, to generate inclusion among the different age groups and career levels.
The BRG launch parallels the current & future workforce trend of older workers continuing in their careers past retirement age:
- About 40% of people ages 55 and older were working or actively looking for work in 2014, according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics.
- The 55 and over labor force has doubled since 1998 and is expected to rise even more. (Source: PLANSPONSOR)
- According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, by 2024, 25% of the American workforce will be made up of workers over the age of 55 – “an all-time high”.
Open to all employees, TIAA’s BRGs (formerly ERGs: Employee Resource Groups) are led by employees who come together voluntarily to strategically advance inclusion and diversity and impact business outcomes.
