BEST PRACTICES

“As a company built on the magic of storytelling that entertains, enlightens and inspires families around the world, Disney recognizes that diversity and inclusion are fundamental to its success,” The Walt Disney Company stated.

The company reported significant success thanks to its Global Workplace and Women’s Initiative (GWWI) program, which focuses on expanding opportunities for women while also growing the business. Over the past year, The Walt Disney Company saw success in promoting more women into management roles.

Influence by the GWWI program is also attributed to a number of media successes for women, including espnW, which launched in 2010 as a blog and is now a multimedia initiative serving women sports fans around the world. The company will also feature its first Latina princess this summer on its Disney Junior network.

The Walt Disney Company also utilizes an employee resource group (ERG) for women, Women@Disney, which has seen more than 2,000 members in just three years.
