‘The Comcast Holiday Spectacular’: Bringing the Joy and Magic of the Season to All

Trombone-toting snowmen. Twirling ballerinas. A snowy sleigh ride through the Pennsylvania countryside and over the Philadelphia skyline.

These are just a few of the memorable moments that bring thousands of Philadelphians and tourists alike back to The Comcast Holiday Spectacular each year.

And for visitors from the Pennsylvania School for the Deaf, that story of inspiration, joy, and magic continues to capture the imagination of young students and their parents.

For Lynette Mattiacci, Early Intervention Teacher at the Pennsylvania School for the Deaf, it was all about helping families create a holiday tradition they can enjoy for years to come.

“It’s always a delight seeing the children’s faces light up in wonder and excitement while watching the show. Many of the families had not experienced The Comcast Holiday Spectacular prior to our trip, and they all agreed they would definitely return with their families and friends.”

The Comcast Holiday Spectacular is a free, interactive experience that brings the spirit of the holiday season to life. The show runs in the lobby of the Comcast Center on The Comcast Experience, one of the world’s largest LED continuous video walls. Through Comcast’s commitment to accessibility and inclusion, guests can access closed captioning and audio-description devices to delight in this Philadelphia holiday tradition.

“I actually started crying to see the toddlers watch the show,” shared Celestine Jackson, who saw The Comcast Holiday Spectacular for the first time with her grandson. “It wasn’t even a show—it was a wonderland. All kids should experience that.”

“My experience was heartwarming,” shared Dad, Tyree Branch. “I will definitely recommend this experience to a friend. Seeing my daughter and all the students light up and be able to enjoy just as any other kid would was so moving.”

The visit marked the fourth year that Pennsylvania School for the Deaf students and families have taken part in The Comcast Holiday Spectacular. For Lynette, the visit provides the school’s youngest students an opportunity to engage with an inclusive hometown experience: “The two-year old students in my playgroup are deaf and hard of hearing, and I am also deaf. We return each year not only because it’s a fun holiday tradition, but it’s also a wonderful way to support their ASL language development right in their backyard.”

Comcast is committed to making products, services, and experiences accessible to the widest possible audience, and opening new doors to independence for people with disabilities.

“Comcast connects people to the moments that matter most,” shared Tom Wlodkowski, Vice President of Accessibility. “The holiday season is about traditions and spending time with family and friends, so it was important that we made this experience as inclusive as possible. This is part of our commitment to building inclusive experiences and products.”

The Comcast Holiday Spectacular, one of several Comcast Center Campus holiday attractions, runs Thanksgiving Day through New Year’s Day every hour, on the hour from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. (excluding 5 p.m. on weekdays). The last show will run New Year’s Day at 4 p.m.
