TD Bank to Award $7 Million to Support Affordable and Accessible Housing

TD Bank ranked No. 13 on The Fair360, formerly DiversityInc Top 50 Companies for Diversity list in 2022.

TD Bank’s giving arm, the TD Charitable Foundation, announced its 17th annual Housing for Everyone grant competition. The grant will award $7 million to 37 nonprofit organizations who specialize in helping with rental assistance, sustaining properties used for affordable housing and bolstering sustainability for resident occupancy in the long-term.

With inflation pitting the rapid rise of rental costs against stagnant wages, it’s becoming more and more difficult to locate affordable housing opportunities, especially for low-income and underrepresented households.

Nonprofit organizations are struggling to meet the demands for more affordable housing placements and rental assistance. TD Bank hopes to ease this struggle through the annual Housing for Everyone grant.

“Housing organizations are on the front lines of this growing affordable housing crisis. They are called upon time and time again to meet the needs of some of the most vulnerable members of our communities,” Paige Carlson-Heim, Director of the TD Charitable Foundation, said in a statement. “We expect the demand for affordable units and assistance with rent to increase, so our 17th annual Housing for Everyone grant program centers on supporting those organizations delivering rental assistance, rehabilitating affordable housing properties and building organizational capacity to address resident sustainability for the long-term.”

TD’s annual Housing for Everyone grant program was first launched in 2005. Since its inception, the program has awarded more than $42 million to hundreds of nonprofit organizations in U.S. communities served by TD Bank.

The Housing for Everyone grant supports TD’s corporate citizenship platform, The TD Ready Commitment.

Through this commitment, “TD is targeting $775 million towards community giving by 2030 across four drivers of change – Financial Security, Vibrant Planet, Connected Communities and Better Health – to open the doors to a more inclusive and sustainable tomorrow.”
