No. 27 | Target
“Diversity, equity and inclusion are part of our core values. They shape our culture and drive our business. We approach diversity, equity and inclusion with the same rigor as any business imperative and, simply put, we believe diverse and inclusive teams are the most successful. Our focused DE&I strategy, which dates back more than a decade and a half, has helped us recruit and retain more diverse team members, offer more products from diverse suppliers, direct our philanthropic spending to communities of color and more. As we build on this longstanding focus, we’re committed to using Target’s size, scale and resources to create positive and sustained change for our team, our guests and our communities.”

“Now more than ever, people expect institutions and companies to play a role in creating a more inclusive and equitable society for everyone, and the influence Target can have on the U.S. and our culture is significant. We are committed to creating equity, and ensuring our intentions have a meaningful impact for our teams, guests and communities.”
From The Company
At Target, our team rallies around a single purpose: to help all families discover the joy of everyday life. Diversity, equity and inclusion are at the heart of that purpose and directly relate to our value of inclusivity.
That value comes to life through our focused DE&I strategy, including goals we make every three years to hold ourselves accountable to drive progress.
We’re proud to share we met or exceeded almost all our 2019-2021 goals, from increasing promotions for people of color by 62%, to spending $1.78 billion with diverse suppliers. We’re inspired to continue to amplify our progress and deepen our impact with our next set of goals.
We have established a Racial Equity Action and Change committee to accelerate our work specific to Black team members, guests and communities. That includes a commitment to spend $2 billion with Black-owned businesses by 2025. We also launched the Target Scholars program, in partnership with the UNCF (United Negro College Fund), supporting students at more than a dozen Historically Black Colleges and Universities.
Together, these efforts are making a difference in our stores and communities as we continue to fulfill our purpose every day.
