No. 29 | Target
“At Target, diversity and inclusion are part of our core values. They shape our culture and drive our business. We approach diversity and inclusion with the same rigor as any business imperative and, simply put, we believe diverse and inclusive teams are the most successful. Our focused D&I strategy, which dates back a decade and a half, has helped us recruit and retain more diverse team members, offer more products from diverse suppliers, direct our philanthropic spending to communities of color and more. As we build on this longstanding focus, we’re committed to using Target’s size, scale and resources to create positive and sustained change – for our team, our guests and our communities.”
Kiera FernandezChief Diversity & Inclusion Officer and Vice President of Human Resources
“Now more than ever, people expect institutions and companies to play a role in creating a more inclusive and equitable society for everyone, and the influence Target can have on the U.S. and our culture is significant. We are committed to creating equity, and ensuring our intentions have a meaningful impact for our teams, guests and communities.”
From The Company
Target has had a longstanding commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion. We set goals every three years to hold ourselves accountable to the progress we want to make as an organization.
Based on our strategy and goals, we have continuously increased the representation and advancement of women and people of color.
Promotions of women of color to senior leadership have more than doubled. Also, Target has increased sales by 45% in product categories like beauty, toys and food, which help make the company more relevant for all guests.
Finally, we spent almost $1.5 billion with diverse suppliers in 2020 and recently made a commitment to spend $2 billion with Black-owned businesses by 2025.
These efforts are making a difference in our stores and communities, as we at Target continue to fulfill our purpose to help all families discover the joy of everyday life.
