Target is continuing its focus on a three-year diversity and inclusion plan and saw significant progress over the last year. One facet of this plan is increasing its diverse representation throughout it ranks, and these efforts have paid off.

The company has more Blacks, Latinos and Asians not only on its Board of Directors but also in its senior leadership ranks than the Top 50 average. Not only did Target add a Latina to its Board of Directors, the company also employed two diverse people into C-Suite positions: Don Liu was hired as chief legal officer, and Rick Gomez was promoted to chief marketing officer.

Target has continued its strategic partnerships with other groups dedicated to Diversity, including Catalyst, the Hispanic Association on Corporate Responsibility, GLSEN, the National Urban League, The Mission Continues, Executive Leadership Council and Leadership Education for Asian Pacifics. Additionally, the company attends and sponsors a variety of events, including the National Society of Hispanic MBAs and the National Black MBA Association.
