“Although our diverse supplier program is just getting started, our efforts to embed supplier diversity best practices in our business lead the industry,” said Darnell Greene, Director of Supplier Diversity. “Our program is helping diverse-owned businesses thrive and grow in the foodservice industry and provide unique, new product offerings for our customers and services to support our business.”

Sysco recently held its first virtual Supplier Diversity Summit, with almost 500 suppliers in attendance! We discussed our commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) initiatives, our new supplier mentorship program and the importance of supplier certifications, including how to become certified by our supplier diversity council partners.

Following the Summit, we hosted virtual “matching-making” sessions with the intention of making connections within the industry. To qualify for the session, a business must provide products and services to the foodservice industry and be at least 51% owned, operated and managed by a woman, ethnic minority, military veteran, disabled individual or someone belonging to the LGBTQ+ community.
