Chief Diversity Officer
Steve Bucherati is well aware that he is one of only a handful of straight white men in the diversity field. But he feels this enables him to relate to other white men in the corporate world. When some were skeptical about the launch of The Coca-Cola Company‘s women’s initiative, “my brand had value,” he told DiversityInc. “I showed them that this is not an effort to invalidate them; it’s an effort to validate everyone.”
Bucherati leads the company’s diversity programs worldwide, including the Global Women’s Initiative and its 15 resource groups. More than a third of employees participate in these groups, and Bucherati personally presents participation and diversity progress to the board of directors.
Since joining Coca-Cola in 1991, Bucherati has held numerous leadership roles in human resources, including Manager of Talent Acquisition; Director of Human Resources, Global Marketing; and Director of Workplace Fairness.
