Sodexo is a people company. Not only do our teams work hard to improve the Quality of Life of the people we serve, but they also take the time to improve each other’s lives! A perfect example of this is the Sodexo Food & Nutrition team at Springhill Medical Center in Mobile, Alabama.
We have been partnering with Springhill since 1999, and our team takes pride in delivering excellent service daily. One of the driving forces behind this is employee engagement through recognition and a culture of inclusion. When people feel valued, their job satisfaction increases and productivity rises, so Sodexo has a number of programs in place that make it easier than ever to show appreciation for a job well done. - “C-Beyond” allows employees to see beyond barriers that may otherwise separate them by featuring employees each month who share their traditions and heritage.
- The “All Stars” bulletin board enables peer recognition, using sticky notes to capture accomplishments for all to see.
- “Go Ahead Make My Day” encourages staff to share a nice comment with a co-worker who they feel could use a bit of inspiration.
- The “AYR Olympics” celebrates staff for their excellent service during the “At Your Request” dining experiences for our patients and their families.
It is not a surprise that such an engaged team has the desire to create excellent customer experiences, while growing their careers at Sodexo. And they are supported in doing so! Sodexo managers encourage staff whom they call “hidden jewels” to grow their careers from frontline to supervisor and managerial positions through mentoring, continuing education and seminars.
Long term employee Teresa McGhee, who currently serves as Patient Services Manager, said, “My leaders are very involved with employees and in the community. They encourage and push us in the right direction, and I’m grateful they did that for me.”
