The political landscape of Anaheim, Calif., may be set to change, as the city reportedly nears a settlement to end a lawsuit over the makeup of the city council.
The ACLU filed suit against the city last year on behalf of Jose Moreno and two other Latino Anaheim residents, accusing the city of using an at-large voting system to keep Latinos from being elected to public office. Key hearings that had been scheduled ahead of a March trial date have been postponed while lawyers work to finalize an agreement, according to the Los Angeles Times.
