'It Is Slavery': FOX News Contributor on Affordable Care Act

Affordable health insurance for every American isn’t just as bad as slaveryit’s just like slavery. At least, that’s what FOX News’ newest contributor says.

“You know Obamacare is really I think the worst thing that has happened in this nation since slavery,” Ben Carson told a crowd at the 2013 Value Voters summit in Washington. “And … it is slavery in a way, because it is making all of us subservient to the government, and it was never about healthcare. It was about control.”

Carson, who is Black, then went on to compare the Affordable Care Act to the communist policies instilled by Vladimir Lenin.

Carson’s comments came within days of being hired by FOX News as a contributor, a contract he landed after gaining popularity among conservatives for slamming President Obama at the National Prayer Breakfast. By day, Carson is a pediatric neurosurgeon who served nearly three decades as the Director of Pediatric Neurosurgery at The John Hopkins Medical Institutions.

These are hardly Carson’s first controversial remarks. In the same speech, he said that Americans need to “re-educate the women” about abortion because “they get all riled up.” Under pressure from a student petition demanding his removal from the program, Carson withdrew as the commencement speaker at Johns Hopkins School of Medicine in April following a March interview in which he compared same-gender marriage to pedophilia and bestiality. “No groupbe they gays, be they NAMBLA [North American Man/Boy Love Association], be they people who believe in bestiality, it doesn’t matter what they arethey don’t get to change the definition [of marriage],” he told Sean Hannity of FOX News.

In April, Carson also referred to white liberals as “the most racist people there are.”

Despite all of this (or perhaps because of all of this), he was right back on FOX News just a week later, continuing to rail against the healthcare law.
