Subarna MalakarHead of Diversity and Inclusion, North America
“While 2020 presented several unprecedented challenges with the pandemic and a focus on racial injustice, Sanofi North America’s Executive Diversity and Inclusion Council, HR, Talent, D&I and ERGs continued to drive progress in creating a workplace that fosters engagement and a sense of belonging for employees. Our partnership with DiversityInc reflects how we prioritize and embrace the benefits of D&I in our workforce so employees can grow and contribute to their fullest potential.”
From The Company
Sanofi is a global biopharmaceutical company dedicated to supporting people through their health challenges. We prevent illness with vaccines and provide innovative treatments to fight pain and ease suffering.
Every day we dedicate our most important resource — our people — to our purpose of supporting patients and families through their health journeys. Sanofi depends on the diversity and talent of our employees to be more innovative, effective and competitive. By maximizing the power of difference, we create a culture where employees feel engaged, empowered and included.
2020 was a challenging year for all, as we managed our way through the global pandemic and social unrest and racial injustices in the United States.
At Sanofi, we enhanced our benefits and policies to support the needs of all employees throughout the pandemic, including expanded backup care; several programs for employees caring for dependents; and physical and mental well-being programs. Our employee resource groups (ERGs) worked alongside our Diversity and Inclusion (D&I) team to meaningfully connect with and support employees.
After the murder of George Floyd and other events throughout the summer, our multicultural ERG, MOSAIC, took the lead in navigating the company through the social unrest that occurred in the country. Additionally, through panel discussions and other activities, MOSAIC helped us address the anti-Asian bias that surfaced as a result of COVID-19.
