Russell Simmons Has to Face His Accuser in Court

A judge has determined that hip-hop mogul, Russell Simmons, will indeed have his day in court to face one of the women accusing him of rape.

In November, Simmons requested that the case be tossed out by a court in LA. The alleged rape was said to have taken place in 1988. According to Simmons’ attorney, he didn’t have to answer the claim because the accuser didn’t give a specific date regarding when the incident occurred.

The judge rejected the claim giving him 20 days to respond.

At least 12 women have accused Simmons of sexual abuse. A little over a year ago, he relinquished his position as the president of Def Jam amid the allegations.

With reference to this case, it’s alleged that Simmons raped his accuser in a hotel room and she is now seeking $10 million in damages.

Simmons denies the allegations.

His attorneys have stated that the suit is frivolous and it’s only “for purposes of publicity” and is an attempt “to extort large sums of money from Mr. Simmons and for her lawyer to try to make a name for himself.”

Simmons has stated: “I vehemently deny all the allegations made against me. They have shocked me to my core as I have never been abusive or violent in any way in my relations with women.”

“I have submitted myself to multiple lie detector tests. I denied forced sex and sexual harassment allegations brought against me in each test; I also answered no to the question, ‘Have you ever physically forced any woman to have sexual intercourse’ I passed all of the lie detector tests.”

It should be noted that the statute of limitations has passed.
