Roseanne Barr’s most recent racist tweet has now caused her show to be cancelled, but she was riddled with red flags from the get-go.
Tweeting on Tuesday that Valerie Jarrett, who served as an adviser to former President Barack Obama, looks like the “Muslim brotherhood & planet of the apes had a baby” was awful, but so is Barr’s history of racism and off-the-wall comments on social media and beyond.
One of the main groups Barr has focused her hate on is Muslims: She has talked about Islamic rape pedo culture and retweeted anti-Muslim memes, including tirades against “Muslim Migrants” that say “Americans don’t want these savages in our towns!”
Barr claimed that Trump is secretly busting satanic child sex rings linked to high-level Democrats.
She accused Florida school shooting survivor David Hogg of performing a Nazi salute.
In 2016, she tweeted that Hillary Clinton’s former aide Huma Abedin, who is Muslim and was married to Anthony Weiner at the time, was a “Jew Hater.” She’s accused Clinton in the past, during the political campaign season, of being “in bed with CNN and Saudi Arabia and everything else.”
While many of her tweets have been removed, salon.com reported in 2016 that Roseanne’s hate included anti-Muslim, anti-Palestinian rhetoric, calling Israel’s critics Nazis and Palestinian supporters Nazi helpers.
During the last Israeli election, Barr warned Israeli voters not to capitulate to Obama and called the Zionist Union leader Issac Herzog an Obama puppet and spread lies about Obama supporting Boycott Divestment Sanctions (BDS), which supports the end of Israel’s oppression of Palestine.
Additionally, she went after those who supported BDS saying that she hoped all Jews leave UC Davis and then it gets nuked. She accused students of receiving terror funding from King Salman of Saudi Arabia, and said to “Nuke all UC David Jew-Haters.”
And her love for Trump, who spews similar messages, could not have been more of a red flag that the “real” Roseanne was not going to be silent for the cameras forever.
Channing Dungey, the entertainment chief at ABC, said in an interview last week that there was concern about Barr’s opinions affecting the perception of the show’s content. The second season, which was set to be shot soon, had been refocused on family instead of politics. But that would prove to be too little too late.
‘Roseanne’ Tries to Make it OK for America to Hate Again

The actress responded Tuesday morning with an apology and explanation that it was a joke, but a racist joke is just what it says it is — racist.
“I apologize to Valerie Jarrett and to all Americans. I am truly sorry for making a bad joke about her politics and her looks. I should have known better. Forgive me-my joke was in bad taste.”
The network canceled the hit comeback show today, calling her comments “abhorrent, repugnant and inconsistent with our values.” The show had amassed over 25 million viewers and had given license to make America’s television viewers justify hate.

To reflect reality, Barr must include in her program the racist, xenophobic and homophobic actions of many of his supporters. The actions were fueled during Trump’s run for the presidency and his current policies are fanning the flames. Barr also has to discuss the rhetoric of their leader.
