A North Carolina family is outraged at local police officers for racially profiling their teenage foster son and pepper spraying him, all while in their own home.
Ricky and Stacy Tyler, a white couple, say DeShawn Currie, a Black teen who has lived with their family for a year, was following his normal after-school routine on Monday in Fuquay-Varina when a neighbor called the police to report a burglar. The couple left the side door unlocked because he was coming home early from school. After seeing DeShawn enter the home through the unlocked side door, the unidentified neighbor immediately called the police. Soon, three officers were in the Tylers’ residence ordering DeShawn to put his hands on the door.
