PPG Supports Children With Disabilities in Denmark

PPG completed a Colorful Communities project at Mindsteps, a training center for children and young people with disabilities in Herlev, Denmark. Twenty-five volunteers at PPG and Mindsteps users came together to spend two days renovating the facility.

“Our users are proud to come to a place they have helped to renovate and make their mark,” said Merete Schousboe, Board Member at Mindsteps. “They have been seen and heard by PPG and that recognition is the most important thing they can get. We are completely blown away by the project.”

PPG supplied 40 gallons of SIGMA Resist paint for the Colorful Communities project and donated more than $28,000 to establish a new learning space and to purchase computers for the center’s school. The company also collaborated with artist Nigel Thomas to provide designs for the walls of the center.

“PPG is committed to giving back to the local community, and at Mindsteps our employees could help make a difference for an organization that needs improvement but lacks the resources,” said Torben Beck, PPG General Manager, Denmark and Germany, Architectural Coatings. “The project allows them an opportunity to beautify which they otherwise would not have had. It’s great to put on your work clothes and go and paint together with the site’s users.”
