'Permit Model' Tries to Prevent Black Women from Taking Photos: Video

Following in the footsteps of Permit Patty, BBQ Becky, License Plate Linda, Foul Freddy and others, is Permit Model.

A video circulating Twitter with more than 7,000 views shows Black women working on a photo shoot on a sidewalk in Texas being interrupted by a white man who claims he owns the property. He wants them to show him a permit.

“I feel like I need to call the police,” says one of the women.

“Call them, call them,” the man responds.

“Guys, this is Permit Model,” says a woman. “He is blocking our model while we are trying to shoot.

“Can you go get your paperwork, sir We don’t believe you.”

He responds, “I don’t care. You’re trespassing.”

He doesn’t move and says, “I’m going to be in your pictures.”

The models begin to pose with him remaining in the frame.

“You need to go get your [documents],” a woman says.

As they are in Texas, she then makes reference to Botham Jean, a Black man, being killed by Amber Guyger, a white Dallas police officer, in his own apartment.

“You guys are already busting in people’s apartments, and then saying you didn’t know it wasn’t yours,” the woman says.

“Are you saying that just because I’m white” the man, who is wearing a Beto O’Rourke pin, says.

The woman responds, “I’m saying that because you’re acting like you’re gang goofy. That’s why.”

According to
Yahoo News, “sidewalks and any area between the sidewalk and the road are considered public property in most states.” And in Texas, “the law states that public right-of-way includes not only a street or roadway, but also sidewalks within the right-of-way.”

A Twitter using with the handle Brother Tyrone X posted the video. He, along with other social media users, commented that the women didn’t need to show a permit:
