People on the Move: Shawn Purvis, New President and CEO of QinetiQ US

Military and defense engineering company QinetiQ U.S. has announced the appointment of Shawn Purvis as its new President and CEO. 

A current member of the Executive Leadership Team and Corporate Vice President at Northrop Grumman Corporation, Purvis currently heads that company’s Enterprise Services sector and is responsible for global cyber security, operations and next-generation digitization, including digital design for engineering, production and manufacturing operations. 

With over 25 years of experience in the field of defense intelligence and cyber security, QinetiQ said it believes Purvis is the ideal candidate to help the company become “a world-class provider of innovative defense and security solutions.”

In a statement, Neil Johnson, Chairman of QinetiQ, said: “On behalf of the QinetiQ Group plc Board, I am very pleased to welcome Shawn to the Group. Shawn brings extensive executive-level experience both in leading complex P&L organizations in the U.S. and in integrating substantial businesses successfully. She has a proven track record for delivering program execution, strategy and growth, and will be a significant asset to the leadership team.”

Steve Wadey, Group CEO of QinetiQ, added that Purvis has proven leadership skills to deliver the company’s short-term and long-term goals and support and protect the U.S. warfighter.

Purvis said she is “incredibly honored and excited to be given the opportunity to lead the talented and dedicated people who make up our QinetiQ US business, as we continue to deliver mission-critical sensing and robotic capabilities for the U.S. warfighter. With an ambition to build a disruptive mid-tier company in the U.S. through both organic growth and strategy-led acquisitions, I am focused on driving both strong operational performance and executing on our growth strategy for the medium and long-term.” 

Purvis will take over the role of President and CEO effective Feb. 16.
