People on the Move: Cox Communications Promotes Kia Painter to EVP and Chief People Officer

Cox Communications (ranked No. 34 on Fair360, formerly DiversityInc’s 2022 Top 50 Companies for Diversity list) announced that it has promoted Kia Painter to EVP and Chief People Officer, effective Jan. 1, 2023. Painter is currently SVP of Human Resources Business Partnerships.

Painter will succeed Karen Bennett in her role as EVP and Chief People Officer, joining Cox’s senior leadership team and will report to President Mark Greatrex. Painter has been at Cox for nearly 25 years and focuses on understanding the changing needs of the company’s diverse workforce.

“These are exciting times for our Cox family of companies, and I am thrilled to have Kia’s tremendous talent on my senior leadership team,” Greatrex said in a statement. “Her strong investment in her personal development and relationships with company business leaders has given her a keen understanding of how the business, operations and front-line work come together to deliver for Cox employees and customers.”

Painter has won numerous industry awards such as the Horizon Women to Watch Award, the WICT Network Southeast, CableFAX Diversity List, Top 40 under 40 by Multichannel News magazine, and the NAMIC Luminary Award for up-and-coming industry executives.

Painter holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration from James Madison University, a master’s degree in human and organizational development from George Washington University and an MBA from Tulane University.
