Osundairo Brothers File Defamation Suit Against Jussie Smollett’s Attorneys

The Osundairo brothers, who were allegedly implicated in the attack on actor Jussie Smollett, have filed a lawsuit in Chicago against the “Empire” actor’s attorneys for defamation. Ola and Abel Osundairo are accusing Mark Geragos and Tina Glandian of falsely accusing them of committing a hate crime.

Police still claim Smollett paid the brothers to stage a hate crime in January. He was ultimately charged with 16 counts of disorderly conduct for allegedly lying to police about the attack. He maintained his innocence. Last month, Cook County prosecutors dropped the charges.

Smollett’s lawyers have stated that their client was “a wholly innocent victim, but that … (the Osundairo brothers) unequivocally led a criminally homophobic, racist, and violent attack against Mr. Smollett,” the suit says.

A statement was issued Tuesday by Geragos and Glandian, which classified the suit as “comical,” “a parody” and “ridiculous” and said they fully expect it to be thrown out of federal court. The lawsuit does seem frivolous considering the evidence against the brothers looked more like they were in cahoots with the Chicago Police Department to frame Smollett.
