NYPD Work Slowdown Gives Blacks, Latinos a Break

Tension between New Yorkers and the New York Police Department are at an all-time high in the city, with the protests that followed the chokehold death of Eric Garnerand the shooting of two NYPD officerscausing a division not only between the NYPD and citizens, but also between officers and Mayor Bill de Blasio.

Many New York City cops felt that de Blasio turned his back on the force when he showed support and sensitivity to #BlackLivesMattereven saying he warned his biracial son to be mindful around the NYPDand many officers consequently turned their backs on him.
