Johnson & Johnson Claims the No. 1 Spot on DiversityInc's Top 50 Companies for Diversity List at D&I's Keystone Event

With a record-breaking turnout of executives and sponsors, it was DiversityInc's biggest event yet.

Johnson & Johnson took home the No. 1 spot on DiversityInc's Top 50 Companies for Diversity list in front of a record-breaking audience on Tuesday night.


Nearly 1,000 guests, including 24 CEOs and presidents and 15 chief human resource officers from 34 companies, responsible for 1.9 million total employees worldwide, were in attendance. Diversity and inclusion's keystone event took place once again at Cipriani Wall Street.

Rounding out the Top 10 were:

6. Eli Lilly and Co.
7. Comcast NBCUniversal
8. KPMG
9. Accenture
10. Hilton

In total, 122 companies were represented at the sold-out event.

"It was humbling to see the outpouring of support from executive management by being in the room," said DiversityInc CEO Luke Visconti. "I'm grateful for the work of the DiversityInc team; without a doubt, this was our best event ever."The announcement dinner featured Don Lemon, anchor of "CNN Tonight with Don Lemon"; Marvin Ellison, CEO of JC Penney (No. 36); and Rev. Jesse Jackson Sr., founder and president of the Rainbow PUSH Coalition. At lunch the audience heard from Paul Butler, author of "Chokehold: Policing Black Men."

"This year DiversityInc saw an increase in technology and pharmaceutical companies, industries that are typically underrepresented, participate in the survey," said Carolynn Johnson, DiversityInc's COO. "We also have a record number of CEOs and US leads who attended the event, indicating the importance of diversity and inclusion, as well as the validity of the Top 50 event."

DiversityInc also unveiled its brand new Hall of Fame, inducting five companies: EY, Kaiser Permanente, Novartis Pharmaceuticals Corporation, PwC and Sodexo. The companies have ranked No. 1 on the Top 50 list at least once since 2012. In order to maintain Hall of Fame status, companies will be re-evaluated annually in the Top 50 competition and remain Top 10 competitive. Hall of Fame companies are listed above the Top 50 on DiversityInc's website. Future No. 1 companies will be added to the Hall of Fame.

The announcement dinner featured Don Lemon, anchor, "CNN Tonight with Don Lemon"; Marvin Ellison, CEO, JC Penney; and Rev. Jesse Jackson Sr., founder and president, Rainbow PUSH Coalition.

The night concluded with an after-party and performance by none other than Nile Rodgers & CHIC.

Accenture (NYSE: ACN) announced that effective immediately, Chairman and CEO Pierre Nanterme has stepped down for health reasons that were previously disclosed in July 2016. Accenture's Board of Directors appointed David Rowland, who has been Accenture's chief financial officer, to become interim chief executive officer, and to the board as a director of Accenture; and named lead independent director Marge Magner as the company's non-executive chair of the board. The company also appointed KC McClure, who currently leads Accenture's finance operations, as chief financial officer. Nanterme will continue at Accenture as advisor to the CEO.
