Facebook Vortex Nabs Another Racist Official

The associate superintendent of virtual instruction for Georgia’s Department of Education is the latest person in a position of authority to lose their job for using social media to voice bigoted comments.
For months on his Facebook page,Spencer shared posts from various websites wrought with anti-Muslim, gay bashing and racist sentiments, along with posts on education news. He identified himself as a DOE leader,soteachers around the state were viewing his page.

According to the Atlantic Journal-Constitution, on Jan. 25 a concerned reader notified the newspaper about Spencer’s posts. Within 80minutes of inquiring with both DOE spokesman Matt Cardoza and Spencer, who did not respond,about the Facebook page, it was taken down.

“He doesn’t think Georgia students can compete with students in other countries because we have nonwhite students here,” Brian Long, president of Better Georgia (a progressive watchdog group), said in an interview. “That is a vile and racist thought. And he should not be in charge of creating curriculum in Georgia.”
