Medtronic Offers Tuition Assistance With MAPS

Medtronic ranked No. 10 on The Fair360, formerly DiversityInc Top 50 Companies for Diversity list in 2022.

Medtronic is helping remove barriers to undergraduate degrees for its employees through its Medtronic Advanced Pathways & Skill Building (MAPS) program.

Through this program, the company offers 100% tuition payment at participating schools to eligible employees seeking career development. MAPS participants don’t need to pay any tuition costs upfront, eliminating the need for reimbursement, which is “just one more way Medtronic is working to remove barriers and ensure every employee has equitable access to the opportunities they seek,” the company wrote.

MAPS also helps women uplift their careers. Forty-eight percent of all entry-level hires are women, but they make up just 38% of first-level managers. Earning a college degree can help women reach higher levels at their companies.

“When I learned about MAPS, I thought, ‘This is my time,’” said Anaisa Rojas Brache, who is studying business administration and working in leadership on the manufacturing line. “Medtronic is not just saving patients’ lives. It’s changing employees’ lives, too.”
