CEO Dr. John Noseworthy chairs the executive diversity council, which meets monthly. He meets regularly with resource groups, and personally signs off on diversity metrics. Director of Diversity and Inclusion Dr. Sharonne Hayes reports directly to Dr. Noseworthy and communicates with him weekly.

There is also a formal physician mentoring program in which half of Mayo’s physicians participate; the hospital’s website lists more than a dozen physician/scientist champions who also teach in the classroom, mentor students and champion diversity in all aspects of education.

There are 14 active employee resource groups at Mayo Clinic; they are open to all employees.
