Marriott First International Hotel Brand Honored by Colombian LGBT Chamber of Commerce

Marriott International (No. 9 on the Fair360, formerly DiversityInc Top 50 Companies for Diversity list) was recently honored as the first international hotel brand in Colombia to pass the Colombian LGBT Chamber of Commerce’s six month review process.

The Colombian chamber awarded the most “Friendly Biz” certification to Marriott for its customer protocols when serving LGBT guests. Last month, the Argentina Gay & Lesbian Chamber of Commerce (CCGLAR) has recognized Marriott as the most LGBT Friendly Hotel Company.

Marriott International has a strong presence in the LGBT community and a longstanding strategic partnership with The Human Rights Campaign (HRC). HRC is the largest civil rights organization in America that advocates for equal LGBT rights through research and education. Marriott International is extremely proud that it has continuously earned a 100 percent score on the Human Rights Campaign’s Corporate Equality Index.

Marriott has consistently championed diversity and inclusion. The company has been recognized for its talent development programs in the past and has landed on several “Best Places to Work” lists. Previous awards include LATINA Style Company of the Year, National Association for Female Executives Top 10 Companies for Executive Women, Fair360, formerly DiversityInc Top 50 Companies, National Gay & Lesbians Chamber of Commerce’s Corporation of the Year, a 100 percent score on Human Rights Campaign’s Corporate Equality Index, and World’s Best Multinational Workplaces as named by Great Place to Work.
