CBS is Paying for the Office Space of Les Moonves' New Company

CBS is paying for the office space that Les Moonves, who left the company in September amid sexual misconduct allegations, is using to build his two new businesses on Sunset Boulevard in West Hollywood.

Moon Rise Technologies, said, in a filing, that it planned to provide “streaming services and distribution,” and Moon Rise Productions, said it planned to provide “film and television production” services.

The office building has no directory.

“We don’t have a directory because our tenants don’t want people to know they are here,” a security guard on duty told The New York Times.

While the $120 million is tied up in a legal dispute, it seems Moonves has found another way to get CBS to pay. With regard to the news conglomerate paying for a man accused of sexual assault to run two new media companies, what exactly has changed

Moonves believes he was wrongfully terminated and is still fighting for that $120 million severance.

Even though Moonves was fired “for cause,” his exit agreement states that CBS is required to pay for his “office services” for at least a year.

Matt Lauer, who was fired by NBC in 2017, tried to pursue a $30 million payout but was denied because he was fired “for cause.”

CBS has also been covering Moonves’ legal fees in the matter, per the exit agreement.

But CBS didn’t fire Moonves because of sexual assault. They fired him for hiding information about alleged assaults.

CBS said the investigation did not find evidence of pervasive harassment and retaliation, but said there were incidents of “improper and unprofessional conduct.” CBS claims they’ve taken steps to better workplace environment.

With no genuine accountability for the employment of a man accused of sexual assault, and CBS’ payment of “office services” for a year, and his legal fees, it’s compensation for Moonves.
