Latino Man Called Racial Slurs at Chicago Cubs Game: Video

The Chicago Cubs might have broken their long drought of world series titles but they have not changed their racist fan base.

In a video posted on Twitter Monday night, two Latino men could be seen being attacked by several white men, and it was the Latino men who got taken away as a white man continued to hurl racial slurs.

The tweet posted by Danny Rockett, @SonRanto, garnered over 1 million views.

In a second video, the Latino man says security is being biased by making him alone leave.

“Yeah, take the f*cking white people’s side! F*ck that!,” the Latino man said as he was led away.

“Beaners! Sp*cs!” yelled the white man who was allowed to remain in his seat.

The man who used the slur saw Rockett videotaping and said, “Don’t record me!” and comes toward him. Security can then be seen pressuring Rockett to put his phone away, “You’re on private property. You don’t have permission to videotape anyone.” The video then ends.

What spearheaded the altercation is still unknown, though when Rockett was asked what started the fight on Twitter, he responded, “Racism.”

Throughout the team’s history, the Cubs’ fans have been known to be racist.

In the late 40s, the Chicago Cubs who missed their chance to sign Jackie Robinson was one of the last franchises to come around to sign a Black player.

A couple of years ago, T-shirts were being sold outside the iconic Wrigley field that evoked racist stereotypes about opposing Latino players and coaches. The T-shirt suggested that Latino ballplayers mow lawns.

The newest version shows the outline of a man cutting grass and says “Pujois moves my lawn.” Another one says, “Zambrano mows my lawn.”

Cubs Spokesman Julian Green stated that all parties were removed from Wrigley after the fight, which began 15 minutes after the game ended.

“We don’t know the nature of what caused the fighting and insensitive language and behavior. Both parties were informed by police and security that they are not welcomed back to the stadium for 2018.”
