“For over three decades, the Rush approach to equal opportunity, diversity, and inclusion has not wavered,” Dr. Larry Goodman says in the university’s diversity statement. “Our approach is that these are essential components of the best employment, educational, and healthcare practices and must be furthered.”

In addition to his role as CEO of Rush University Medical Center, Dr. Goodman is President of Rush University and President of the Rush System for Health. He is also a Professor of medicine. Before becoming CEO in 2002, he served as Senior Vice President for Medical Affairs, Dean of Rush Medical College and Medical Director of Cook County Hospital. He joined Rush University Medical Center in 1977, was named Chief Resident in 1979 and became Associate Dean for Medical Student Programs in 1987.

Dr. Goodman has been published in the Journal of the American Medical Association and the Journal of Infectious Diseases. He received both a bachelor’s degree and a medical degree from the University of Michigan. He is a member of the board of the CORE Foundation of Cook County.
