KPMG Foundation Supports Campus Compact With Three-Year, $150,000 Grant to Recognize Civically Engaged Students and Faculty Leaders
Three-year commitment will provide continued funding for recognition of engaged student and faculty leaders
Boston, MA Campus Compact, a coalition of 1,100 college and university presidents committed to educating students for active citizenship and building strong communities, has secured funding through 2018 from the KPMG Foundation. This $50,000 per year grant will be used to support the Compact’s work in recognizing civically engaged students and faculty leaders through the Newman Civic Fellows Award and the Thomas Ehrlich Civically Engaged Faculty Award.

“These leaders exemplify the role higher education plays in building a better world, and Campus Compact is pleased to celebrate their work and call national attention to it,” said Dr. Andrew Seligsohn, president of Campus Compact. “The support of the KPMG Foundation enables us to continue to expand our efforts to recognize faculty and student excellence in civic and community engagement.”

The Thomas Ehrlich Civically Engaged Faculty Award is given annually to recognize one senior faculty member for exemplary leadership in advancing civic learning, supporting community engagement, and contributing to the public good.
Each year, the Newman Civic Fellows Award honors inspiring student leaders who have demonstrated their investment in finding solutions to the challenges that face our communities throughout the country. Through service, research, and advocacy, these Fellows are making the most of their college experiences to better understand themselves, the root causes of social issues, and effective mechanisms for creating lasting change.
