KKK Will Use 'Lethal Force' Against Ferguson Protestors

As if the threat of heavily armed police forces is not enough, St. Louisarea residents who choose to protest should a grand jury decide not to charge Darren Wilson for the shooting death of Michael Brown may have to deal with another menace: the Ku Klux Klan.

On Tuesday, a flier began to circulate on social media in which the KKK promises to use “lethal force” against protestors.

The flier reads in part:

“Attention: To the terrorists masquerading as ‘peaceful protestors’!

“You have awakened a sleeping giant. The good people of St. Louis County of all races, colors and creeds will not tolerate your threats of violence against our police officers, their families and our communities. We will not sit by and allow you to harm our families, communities, property nor disrupt our daily lives. Your right to freedom of speech does not give you the right to terrorize citizens.

“We will use lethal force as provided under Missouri Law to defend ourselves.

“You have been warned by the Ku Klux Klan!”

Frank Ancona, Imperial Wizard of the Traditionalist American Knights of the Ku Klux Klan, told the Riverfront Times that his followers will distribute paper copies of the flier over the next few days. He also said that members of the Missouri KKK will be at the scene of any unrest following the grand-jury decision.

“We’re basically going where we’re being asked to go,” he said. “We’re being low key, we’re not trying to inflame any situation anywhere, but we’re also letting it be known that we’re here to help people if they need us.”

Ancona insisted that there is not a racist component to the flier. “It would be hypocritical for us to pin this on the Black race when you can clearly watch footage on TV and you see white people as well as Black people,” he says. “All those people need to be on notice.”

Later, in a Wednesday-night appearance on MSNBC’s All In, Ancona told host Chris Hayes that this campaign was a result of “hundreds of calls” the KKK has received from concerned residents who have seen threats on social media. “Random attacks on whites, D.C. sniper-style shootings, police officers being threatened that their wives are gonna be raped, and that they’re all targets,” Ancona said.

“It’s a bit ironic for you to talk about how bad violence is when you’re telling people that you’re going to arm yourselves and shoot,” Hayes told Ancona. “You’re advising people of what the law is for being able to shoot someone. That seems, I think, to everyone seeing this like incitement. It seems like you are attempting to bring about the exact same thing that you’re saying you’re against.”
