Dr. Kenneth L. Davis
CEO and President
Prior to his appointment in September 2013 as CEO and President of the newly former Mount Sinai Health System, Dr. Kenneth Davis was President and CEO of The Mount Sinai Medical Center for 10 years. He is also a Professor of Psychiatry at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai.
Dr. Davis joined the faculty at Mount Sinai in 1979. He has held many leadership roles during his tenure, including Dean, Mount Sinai School of Medicine and Chairman of Psychiatry, Mount Sinai School of Medicine. He was the first director of many of the institution’s research entities, including the Alzheimer’s Disease Research Center, the Schizophrenia Biological Research Center at the Bronx Veterans Affairs Medical Center, the Silvio O. Conte Center for the Neurosciences of Mental Disorders and the Seaver Autism Center.
He earned a bachelor’s degree from Yale College and a medical degree from Mount Sinai School of Medicine, where he was valedictorian. He completed an internship, a residency and a fellowship at Stanford University Medical Center.
Dr. Davis has written numerous scientific articles and is widely recognized for his research in the field of brain diseases. He is past president of the Society of Biological Psychiatry and the American College of Neuropsychopharmacology. He serves on the boards of the Greater New York Hospital Association, the League of Voluntary Hospitals and Homes of New York. He is a member of the National Academy of Sciences’ Institute of Medicine.
