Kellogg Company Continues to Support Food Relief for Hurricane Victims

On Sept. 12, 35 members of Kellogg Company’s (No. 28 on the Fair360, formerly DiversityInc Top 50 Companies list) business employee resource group, Women of Kellogg, volunteered with Second Harvest Heartland in Minnesota to package 10,784 pounds of food for local charities and Hurricane Harvey and Irma victims.


Kellogg Company Fund, the charitable arm of Kellogg Company, announced Aug. 28 it has committed$100,000 to support disaster relief efforts following the devastating floods in Texas. These funds support Feeding America and aid the surrounding Gulf Coast region ever since Hurricane Harvey made landfall.

“Like the rest of Americans, we at Kellogg are heartbroken to see the devastating impact this storm has had on the people of Texas,” said Kris Charles, Senior Vice President, Global Corporate Affairs. “Our shelf-stable products provide important nourishment and comfort for families whose lives have been uprooted. We will continue to help those affected by this terrible storm.”

Kellogg Company has also already sent more than a million servings of Kellogg’s Rice Krispies cereal, Kellogg’s Corn Pops cereal, Pop-Tarts, Kellogg’sNutri-Grain cereal bars, Kellogg’s Rice Krispies Treats, Cheez-It, Bear Nakedgranola and various cookie and cracker varieties to the Houston Food Bank. This food bank is part of the Feeding America network.

On Aug. 30, Kellogg Company announced that it would send an additional 30 million servings of product donations to assist Feeding America with its Hurricane Harvey relief efforts. Kellogg will continue to support Feeding America in its efforts to assist food banks in Texas and Louisiana.Nearly 100 trucks containing donations of Kellogg’scereal, Pringles, Kellogg’s Nutri-Grainbars, Cheez-Itcrackers and Keeblercrackers and cookies were sent.

“We hope that our donations will help during this difficult time,”Charles said. “There is a lot of work ahead for those affected by the hurricane and Kellogg Company is committed to supporting Feeding America as it provides food to those in need.”

Disaster relief efforts such as these are part of Kellogg’s global Breakfasts for Better Days initiative addressing food insecurity. Since 2013, Kellogg has donated more than 2 billion servings of cereal and snacks.
