Kaiser Permanente issued the following statement on the announcement by President-elect Joe Biden of his intention to nominate California Attorney General Xavier Becerra to serve as his secretary of Health and Human Services:
We welcome Attorney General Xavier Becerra’s designation as secretary of Health and Human Services. There is critical work immediately ahead in addressing the COVID-19 pandemic, and much more to do in the coming years to improve health care quality, access, and affordability. We look forward to continuing to work with him in his new role to ensure that everyone in the United States has access to high-quality, affordable health care services and coverage, building on the progress of the Affordable Care Act, and achieving greater equity in our nation’s health care system.
