Hawaii Nurses and Healthcare Professionals, a new union representing approximately 975 Kaiser Permanente Hawaii registered nurses, nurse practitioners, and respiratory therapists, has joined the Alliance of Health Care Unions. The alliance comprises 22 Local Unions, including UNITE HERE; the International Longshore and Warehouse Union, or ILWU; HNHP; and others, representing more than 50,000 Kaiser Permanente employees nationally.

The Alliance of Health Care Unions is part of Kaiser Permanente’s Labor Management Partnership, the largest and longest lasting such partnership in the country. Established in 1997, the LMP is designed as an operational strategy to help workers deliver high-quality care and service, involve unions and front-line workers in care delivery decisions, make Kaiser Permanente the employer of choice and keep Kaiser Permanente’s model of care affordable for members.

“We’re grateful to have such talented and passionate nurses and health care professionals on our team, who put our patients at the center of everything they do and provide high-quality care to our members,” said Kristie Chorny, director of employee and labor relations at Kaiser Permanente in Hawaii. “We look forward to continued collaboration with the alliance as part of our Labor Management Partnership, which has helped us work more effectively with our local unions to ensure the best interests of our employees and members are represented.”
