“The recent events in Charlottesville, Virginia and the president’s response have been disheartening and unsettling. At times like this, it’s important for us to ground ourselves in our mission and reaffirm the beliefs upon which our organization was built.

Kaiser Permanente remains committed to providing high-quality, affordable health care and to improving the health of the communities we serve.

For more than 70 years, we’ve embraced diversity and inclusion as a core principle of our organization. We have a long and rich legacy of welcoming and serving people of all races, national origins, sexes, ages, faiths, gender identities, and abilities.

Throughout our history, we have consistently taken a stand for equality — and against discrimination. And I am proud that, today, Kaiser Permanente remains a place where we embrace everyone.

We are firm in our belief that we are all equal and that our differences have the capacity to make us stronger. We remain committed to being a safe place that embraces our country’s diversity, and we will continue to do our part to make sure our communities are healthy, safe and inclusive.

As heartbreaking as recent events have been, I take heart in the overwhelming goodness, decency, and justice shown by Americans all over our great country. That gives me hope. In the same way, you can be confident that Kaiser Permanente’s values are unwavering.

We will not tolerate racism or discrimination of any kind. We will continue to champion diversity, inclusion, and equity to achieve equality for all.”
