The publishers of an Indiana newspaper are apologizing after posting, editing and, ultimately, deleting a racist and insensitive political cartoon.
Initially published on The Indianapolis Star’s website on Friday, the original post, by cartoonist Gary Varvel, featured a family complaining about President Obama’s executive orders reforming immigration. “Thanks to the President’s immigration order, we’ll be having extra guests this Thanksgiving,” the turkey-holding father is seen saying as three people, including a red-hatted, mustached man, climb in the window.
