Biden gunman shootings Houston El Paso Dayton Toledo tragic

Joe Biden Offers Sympathy for “Tragic Events in Houston and Michigan” in Wake of the Shootings In El Paso and Dayton

2020 Presidential Democratic candidate, Joe Biden, misstated the locations of two tragic shootings as he extended his sympathy on Sunday. He made the remarks while fundraising near San Diego.

Biden’s comments were made at businessman Mark Arabo’s home when he erroneously stated: “the tragic events in Houston today and also in Michigan the day before.” As reported in The New York Post, he corrected the faux pas minutes later.

Two mass shootings occurred in El Paso, Texas, and Dayton, Ohio this past weekend. President Trump also incorrectly stated the location of the Ohio shooting saying Toledo, Ohio instead of Dayton while offering sympathy. There have been no mass shootings in Houston or Michigan.

On Saturday, a white gunman killed twenty people and wounded dozens of others at a Walmart in El Paso, Texas. Before the massacre, the suspect in the El Paso shooting drafted an anti-immigrant, racist manifesto before the shooting where he described fears of a Latino “invasion.”

Biden further commented that he doesn’t hold President Trump personally responsible for the shootings or the racist violence, but added that “the president’s words have meaning, no matter who he or she is.”

“The American people may be running out of tears, but I pray to God we’re not running out of will. A will to do something about what we’re seeing,” Biden said. “You know, we don’t need any more thoughts and prayers out of Washington. What we need out of Washington is a strength and resolve that I have yet to see.”

“There are escalating acts that are occurring not of madness but of absolute, absolute hatred, and we have to call that hatred out and confront it,” he said.

Early Sunday morning, gunman, Connor Butts,  opened fire on patrons at The Dublin Pub in Dayton, Ohio where he injured 16 people and killed nine others, including his sister in the attack. According to CNN, the crazed gunman, allegedly, had a hit list and a rape list for victims. The carnage could have been worse. Within 30 seconds of opening fire, the suspect was shot and killed by police.

This situation isn’t Biden’s first time misspoke since he threw his hat in the 2020 Presidential candidate ring. This past May, he confused former British Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher with then-Prime Minister Theresa. Thatcher left the post in 1990.
