“I believe in surrounding myself with strong people who have patient service as their first priority,” Jim Pendergast says in an interview on UNM Hospitals’ website. “The core values of accountability and integrity are the most important ones to me. If we are honest in our dealings and own the results, the rest will follow very neatly.”

Prior to joining UNMH in 2002, Pendergast held leadership roles in human resources at University of Wisconsin Hospital and Clinics and Upstate University Hospital in Syracuse, N.Y. He has also worked in local government and for Sikorsky Aircraft.

Pendergast received a bachelor’s degree from Canisius College and a master’s degree in public administration from Syracuse University’s Maxwell School of Citizenship and Public Affairs. He and his wife live in Albuquerque.
