“Diversity is more than just what we believe or the right thing to do—it represents who we are as a company,” Jerome Miller told DiversityInc. As Chief Diversity & Inclusion Officer, Miller oversees TIAA-CREF’s resource groups, supplier-diversity program and cross-cultural mentoring programs.

Prior to joining the company in 2012, Miller held diversity leadership roles at several top companies, including Vice President of Diversity and Social Responsibility for Toyota Motor Sales; Vice President of Global Diversity and Community Affairs for Delta Air Lines; and Vice President and Chief Diversity Officer at InterContinental Hotels, where he launched a multicultural marketing committee.

He has also worked in human resources at The Coca-Cola Company (including stints in South Africa and Indonesia), Lockheed Aeronautical Systems, Allstate Insurance Company and Ford Motor Company.

Miller received a bachelor’s degree in economics from Savannah State College and an MBA from Atlanta University (now Clark Atlanta University).
