Golden Globe-winning actor Idris Elba married his longtime girlfriend model Sabrina Dhowre in Morocco on Friday.
Photos shared on British Vogue’s Instagram account feature Dhowre, a former Miss Vancouver, and Elba, the star of “Luther,” exchanging vows at the Ksar Char Bagh hotel in Marrakesh, Morracco.
The wedding comes a year after Elba popped the big question last February on stage at a film screening in London. Elba met Dhowre in Canada, her home country, in 2017 and became acquainted on the set of the drama film “The Mountain Between Us.” Elba previously ruled out marriage following two failed unions, but he’s changed mind.
“The celebrations have been spread out over three days,” according to British Vogue. “Friends and family attended a ‘colors of the Souk’ themed dinner the night before the wedding at the Amanjena.
Elba, named a People magazine “Sexiest Man Alive,” has a loyal following of fans. Some took to social media to congratulate the couple and also to come to terms with Elba no longer being available.
