In yet another case of the GOP candidates making offensive remarks, former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee publically described slavery as a more effective strategy than jail time.
The Republican hopeful sat with Jan Mickelson, a notoriously conservative radio talk show host, earlier this week. The two began discussing the criminal justice system, with Mickelson expressing much disdain for it.
“Our criminal justice system has been taken over by progressives and they’ve sort of turned it into a criminal store, where we store people we don’t want around us for years, and we bill the taxpayers for that,” Mickelson said, to Huckabee’s agreement.
